PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: 17 October 2026

Thank you for choosing Medo ("we", "us", or "our"). Your privacy is fundamental to our mission. Medo is designed to help you track medications, manage treatments, and coordinate family care while keeping your personal and health records private and secure.

If you have any questions, contact us at: iamsanketray123@gmail.com

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We prioritize on-device data storage and data minimization. We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the app experience.

Information You Provide
• Medications, prescription details, dosages, and schedules
• Dose logs (taken, skipped, snoozed), symptoms, and health journal notes
• Care profile names, avatars, caregiver contact details, and photos or attachments you choose to save
• Custom reminder settings, quiet hours, and notification preferences

Automatically Collected Information
• Device model, hardware specifications, and screen resolution
• Operating system version
• Basic app performance and diagnostic logs stored locally in memory
• Anonymous product-usage events (see “Usage Analytics” below), unless you turn them off

This technical information does not directly identify you and is not linked to your identity.

App Permissions
We may request access to certain device capabilities:
• Notifications & Critical Alerts: To alert you when it is time to take your scheduled medications.
• Camera: Scan a medicine label or prescription to recognize text on your device. Saved photos may sync through iCloud when enabled.

You can review and modify app permissions at any time in your device Settings.

We do NOT collect:
• Third-party advertising identifiers (IDFA)
• Data from third-party data brokers or marketing partners
• Precise GPS location or location tracking data

2. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES & PLATFORM INTEGRATIONS

Medo does not use third-party advertising trackers and does not record your screen. Platform integrations include the services described below:

Usage Analytics (PostHog)
Medo uses PostHog to understand which features are used and where the app fails, so we can improve it. Events are anonymous (a random install identifier, not your name or Apple ID) and describe actions such as “dose logged”, “schedule created” or “purchase completed” together with non-identifying context like medication form, hour of day and app version. They never include medication names, dosages, health values, notes, care-recipient names or caregiver contact details. Session recording and screen capture are disabled. You can turn usage analytics off at any time in Settings → Data, Sync & Privacy; the switch takes effect immediately.

Firebase (Google)
Firebase App Check verifies requests from the app. Cloud-assisted scanning sends minimized recognized text and a random per-install identifier to Firebase Cloud Functions, which forward the text to Google Gemini for extraction. This text may contain medicine, prescription, or prescriber information. Scan photos are not included in these extraction requests.

Medication Autocomplete (NIH/NLM RxTerms)
Medicine-name searches send the text you enter, or a shorter search prefix, to the U.S. National Library of Medicine's RxTerms service (clinicaltables.nlm.nih.gov) for names, strengths, and forms. Medo does not add care-profile details or dose history to these requests.

Medication Reference Lookups (openFDA)
Medicine reference searches may send a medicine name, ingredient, or RxNorm identifier to the U.S. FDA's openFDA service to retrieve official labeling. Medo does not add care-profile details or dose history to these requests.

Apple App Store & StoreKit
In-app purchases and Medo Pro subscriptions are processed securely by Apple. Medo receives only transaction confirmation and entitlement status; we never receive or store your payment card details. Apple's privacy policy is available at apple.com/legal/privacy.

Purchase Management (RevenueCat)
Medo uses RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore access, and manage Medo Pro entitlements. RevenueCat processes purchase history, transaction or receipt information, and an app-specific identifier. Apple processes payments; Medo and RevenueCat do not receive your payment card details.

Apple iCloud (CloudKit)
If you enable iCloud Sync, your saved medication records, treatments, profiles, health journal entries, photos, and attachments can be stored in your private iCloud database. Apple encrypts data in transit and at rest.

Scanning and Saved Images
Initial text recognition (OCR) happens on your device. Scan photos are not sent to the cloud extraction service, but photos and attachments you save may sync through iCloud or appear in backups when media is included. Identifier filtering of recognized text does not guarantee anonymization. Review scanner results before saving; scanning does not create reminder times.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use collected data solely to:
• Schedule and deliver timely medication reminders
• Maintain treatment timelines, adherence statistics, and refill forecasts
• Generate clinical reports and summaries that you choose to export
• Ensure on-device reliability and app performance

We do NOT use your data for:
• Selling, renting, or leasing to third parties
• Targeted advertising or tracking across other apps and websites
• Sharing with insurance companies, employers, or pharmaceutical marketers

4. DATA SHARING & EXPORTS

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or health information.

Your data is shared only when explicitly initiated by you:
• Clinical PDF & CSV Exports: You can generate and share clinical reports with your healthcare provider via the standard iOS share sheet.
• JSON Backup & Restore: You can export a backup of your records to store or transfer. You can protect a backup with a password (AES-GCM encryption on your device); without a password the file is readable by anyone who has it. Photos and attachments are left out unless you choose to include them. Before a backup is restored, Medo saves a safety copy of your current data in the app’s private storage (the latest three are kept, and “Delete all data” removes them).
• Family & Caregiver Sharing: If you choose to share care updates with a caregiver, notifications and summaries are sent only to the contacts you designate. Shared care plans are delivered through your private iCloud (CloudKit sharing); the caregiver sees only the profiles you share and can be removed at any time.
• Legal Obligations: We may disclose limited information only if required by applicable law or a valid court order.

5. DATA RETENTION & DELETION

Your data is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud storage for as long as you use the app.

You have complete control over your data:
• You can delete individual medications, logs, or care profiles at any time.
• You can permanently delete all data across your device and synced iCloud storage directly from Settings → Your data → Delete all data.
• Deleting the app deletes all local on-device database records.

6. DATA SECURITY

We implement strong technical and organizational measures to safeguard your records. On-device data is encrypted using iOS Data Protection when your device is passcode-protected or locked. When iCloud sync is enabled, data is protected by Apple's secure CloudKit infrastructure.

7. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Medo allows parents or legal guardians to manage medication profiles for children under their care. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 years of age.

8. YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to:
• Access and review all stored medication records and health logs
• Export your complete data history in standard portable formats (PDF, CSV, JSON)
• Permanently erase your data at any time via the in-app deletion control

To exercise these rights or ask questions, contact us at: iamsanketray123@gmail.com

9. DO-NOT-TRACK

Medo does not track users across third-party websites or services and does not participate in tracking networks.

10. POLICY UPDATES

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of Medo following updates signifies your acceptance of the revised policy.
